JESUS, LORD OF YOUR FINANCES Part 7 of 11
TEXT- 2 Corinthians 9:6-11
INTRODUCTION
Since today is the first Sunday of the month our church is emphasizing our 1996 theme which is, "The church Where Jesus is Lord."
On our theme days we are looking at the different ways that we can make Jesus the lord of our life.
While many may know Jesus as their savior, our goal is to help you realize your need to also make Jesus the lord of your life.
This morning our text is found in 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 and the title of my message is, "Making Jesus the Lord of Your Finances."
Probably one of the best indicators of the lordship of Jesus in our life is the area of giving.
Today when a church or pastor starts talking about money, tithing and asking for donations people become offended, upset and some even go to another church.
But did you know that Jesus talked more about money than any other topic.
In fact, he even used a person's attitude and relationship to their money to indicate whether or not they had surrendered to his lordship.
Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
Our text this morning is only a small part of the largest section found in the bible dealing with the topic of giving.
For two entire chapters Paul speaks to the Corinthian Christians concerning their giving to the lord.
This morning I would like us to consider six things that will characterize a person's giving when Jesus is the lord of their finances.
