COMMITMENT TO PRAYER Part 3 of 6

Text- Colossians 4:2-4

Introduction

This morning is theme day for our church and the text I have chosen is found in Colossians 4:2-4.

The title of my message today is, “Commitment To Prayer.”

This last Thursday was National Day of Prayer.

Thousands, if not millions of Christians throughout our country were praying for their country, community and churches.

But, commitment to prayer involves more than just praying one day out of the year.

A tourist was visiting the city of Jerusalem and decided to go to the Wailing Wall. There he found many people standing in front of the oldest surviving wall of the city praying. He stopped a Jew coming from the wall and asked him what he prayed for. “I prayed for my daughter and her new husband to have a wonderful marriage and to give me many grandchildren.” Said the man. “I also prayed for my son the doctor to become very successful and makes lots of money so he can take care of his mother and me in our old age.” The tourist asked the man, “what is it like praying at the Wailing Wall? Have any of your prayers been answered?” To which the Jewish man replied, “it’s like talking to a wall.”

In our text, Paul describes four things that are involved in being committed to prayer.
