SENT TO SERVE PART 5 OF 12
TEXT- MARK 6:7-13
INTRODUCTION
The spiritual goal of our church this year is to encourage each member of our church to discover the way they are able to serve the lord through their various gifts and begin using them in one of our existing church ministries or begin a new ministry.
To emphasize this goal I have been preaching a series of sermons from the Gospel of Mark on various aspects of our service to the Lord.
This morning our text is found in Mark 6:7-13 and the title of my message is, "Sent To Serve."
A missionary was sent into the deepest parts of a jungle and fell into the hands of a band of cannibals. Realizing that they were going to eat him the missionary told them, "your not going to like me." and calmly took out his pocketknife, sliced a piece from the calf of his leg and handed it to the chief. "Try it and see for yourself," he urged. The chief took one bite, chewed a minute, grunted, and spit it out. The missionary lived on that island for another 25 years, and the natives never did realize that he had a cork leg.
As servants of Jesus we have been sent to serve.
Here in our text for today I would like us to look at five ways to be successful when you are sent out to serve Jesus.
