DEMON POSSESSION PART 7 OF 11

INTRODUCTION

Last Wednesday night we discussed two very important points concerning the topic of demon possession.

First, we considered what kind of things to look for in a person who may be demon possessed.

Second, we considered some of the reasons why people become demon possessed.

Two activities that play a major role in demonic possession are idolatry and the occult.

If you remember, there were three occult things in particular that we examined.

Divination-Taping into demonic knowledge through things such as astrology, palmistry, crystal balls, tarot cards, séances or communication with the dead.

Magic- Taping into demonic powers through things like, healing and inflicting diseases, love and hate potions or curses, fertility charms and voodoo.

Spiritism- Which feeds upon our natural senses through things like telekinesis, visions, automatic writing, trances, materializations, moving items with the mind and channeling.

Because demonic possession is no joking matter, we need to take the things that can cause someone to become demon possessed very seriously.

In our day and time we find many people becoming more and more interested with things that deal with the occult.

This is evident by the number of television programs, books, articles and conventions that emphasize occult things today.

One thing in particular that has become very popular in the last ten years is talking to spirits.

Most all of the major corporations in the world today encourage their executives to participate in seminars that promote occult practices and activities so they can become more proficient.

Many very well known celebrities such as Shirley MacLaine have made "channeling" or talking to spirits a popular American past time.

Even our public education system offers "channeling," "centering," and a variety of other occult exercises as a positive and beneficial experience for students.

Tonight, however, I would like us to see that contacting or communicating with spirits is far from being harmless and can be one of the most dangerous activities a person can practice.
