Part 8 The Principle of Appropriation

The principles that we have examined so far have dealt with our INTELLECT.  Through them we have tried to discover what the Bible says.  The last two principles we will examine deal with our WILL.

Appropriation is bringing to obedience the directions we have learned.  Through appropriation we transfer the knowledge we have in our heads and hearts to our hands and feet.

Throughout the years, the application of God’s Word constantly expresses itself as the major need in Christianity.  Learning has always been far easier than applying.  Yet God insists that we continue working at trying to apply His truths to our lives.  In making a personal application of God’s Word it is important to distinguish between emotion and volition.  Often applying God’s Word is an emotional experience.  However, action and not just feeling is what God wants.  Ideally, the Lord wants both your emotions and volition, but it is when you do what God wants that you make application.
