HOW GOD MAKES ME WISE PART 3
Text- Proverbs 1:20-33
Introduction
This morning we are going to continue with our series in the Book of Proverbs on the topic, “The Pathway To Wisdom.”
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
I’D LIKE YOU TO CIRCLE TWO WORDS. CIRCLE THE WORDS “WISDOM” AND “UNDERSTANDING.”
If wisdom and understanding are so important and we are to get them no matter what the cost might be, we need to know what they are.
Wisdom is seeing life from God’s perspective. It is the ability to use our knowledge the way God wants us to use it. It is being able to see the your problems and circumstances in life in light of God’s principles.
Understanding on the other hand is the ability to then live your life according to those principles no matter what is going on in your life. It is responding to life’s problems in accordance with God’s Word.
The Book of Proverbs is a great book for getting both understanding and wisdom.
Here in our text we are given an invitation to be wise. In fact, we are invited to be wise by wisdom.
It sounds pretty strange that wisdom would invite us to do anything because we think of wisdom as a thing.
But the Bible presents wisdom as a person. It is personified in this passage. If wisdom is a person, who is it?
Some would say that it is Solomon. That might be true because Solomon is the author of this book and was also the wisest king of Israel.
But I believe that there is one who is even wiser than Solomon. That person is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
This wisdom of God is personified in Jesus Christ and He is able to make each one of us wise.
So this morning we are going to look at three ways God can make you wise through Jesus Christ.
