THE KEYS TO PERSONAL RENEWAL

Life From A-Z in the Word Part 5 of 22

Psalm 119:33-40

Tonight we’re going to continue with our study from Psalm 119. In this Psalm David shows us how to live life from day to day. It shows us how that life is not always lived from high point to high point, but is sometimes lived in the valley.

For some of you, Thanksgiving and Christmas is a valley. It’s a time of year when you feel down and depressed.

Some of you may have come tonight hoping that I have some kind of spiritual hypodermic that I can pump into your veins so you can leave feeling really on top for God so you can make it through the pressures your going to experience tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day.

How many of you are going to cook a turkey tomorrow? Someone sent me an e-mail on how to get through the ordeal of cooking a turkey.

Step 1: Go buy a turkey

Step 2: Take a drink of whiskey (scotch)

Step 3: Put turkey in the oven

Step 4: Take another 2 drinks of whiskey

Step 5: Set the degree at 375 ovens

Step 6: Take 3 more whiskeys of drink

Step 7: Turn oven the on

Step 8: Take 4 whisks of drinky

Step 9: Turk the bastey

Step 10: Whiskey another bottle of get

Step 11: Stick a turkey in the thermometer

Step 12: Glass yourself a pour of whiskey

Step 13: Bake the whiskey for 4 hours

Step 14: Take the oven out of the turkey

Step 15: Take the oven out of the turkey

Tonight we’re going to learn that the Christian life is not just living from high point to high point. It’s learning how to walk with God every day of your life, even in the valleys of life when you’re facing problems. That’s the whole point of Psalm 119. It shows us how to live life from A-Z in the Word.

Our text tonight is found in verses 33-40 and the title of my message is, “The Keys To Personal Renewal.” In this section, every first letter of each verse begins with the Hebrew letter “hey” which is often used as a definite article as in “The way, or The Lord.” But in this particular passage, the emphasis is on the revival or the personal renewal we all need in our spiritual life.

Some of you might be thinking, “I don’t need a revival or renewal in my life.” In that case, just take notes, because probably right after Thanksgiving or Christmas you’re going to need one.

So, how do you experience personal renewal in your spiritual life?
