QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
TEXT- 1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18; 1 CORINTHIANS 15:50-58
INTRODUCTION
Revelation 1:17-18 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
1 Corinthians 15:20-23 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
IN A SURVEY TAKEN ONCE IT WAS SHOWED THAT 70 OF THE STUDENTS ATTENDING SEMINARY OR THEOLOGICAL SCHOOLS DID NOT ACCEPT THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST AS FACTUAL.
TODAY EASTER IS A DAY WHICH IS SET ASIDE TO HONOR THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS.
THE CELEBRATION OF EASTER ACTUALLY ORIGINATED AS A PAGAN FESTIVAL.
THE NAME EASTER COMES FROM THE NAME OF A TEUTONIC GODDESS OF SPRING WHOSE NAME WAS EASTRE.
TODAY INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS I WOULD LIKE US TO LOOK AT OUR RESURRECTION, THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD.
IT IS BECAUSE OF THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS THAT WE ARE GOING TO COME OUT OF OUR GRAVES.
THE WORD "RESURRECTION" MEANS "TO STAND UP AGAIN."
John 5:25 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
John 5:28-29 "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.
JESUS SAID THAT THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF RESURRECTIONS.
ONE UNTO LIFE AND THE OTHER UNTO JUDGMENT.
WHICH ONE ARE YOU GOING TO BE IN? IF YOU ARE SAVED YOU WILL BE IN THE FIRST RESURRECTION.
THAT BEING THE CASE, I’D LIKE US TO ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE ABOUT THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD.
