CRASH AND BURN
Surviving The Wreckage Of Relationships Lost
Episode 1
A few weeks ago, Debra and I went to Disney World for our 34th wedding anniversary. We had a great time there and on our last day we went to Orlando International airport to catch our plane home. But when we got there we learned it was delayed. There was a very long line of people trying to find out why the plane was delayed, so we waited in line with everyone else. In about an hour the line hadn’t moved and we received another notice that the plane was going to be delayed again. That’s when we decided to try to call Delta airline. While we waited in line, Debra was on hold on her cell phone and we were informed again that the plane was going to be delayed even later and that we should use the airline phone bank to make arrangements for another flight. So, while Debra waited in line on her cell phone, I went to the airline phone bank with 30 other people and called a representative. Finally after waiting 3 hours and missing our connection in Atlanta, and no way to get home that day, I got someone from the airlines on the phone. I was told they couldn’t do anything for me that day, but that I could get another flight in the morning. Our bags were already checked and on some plane going somewhere, we had already returned our rental car and checked out of our hotel and so I asked if they would put us up for the night, but they said “no”. So, here we are stranded at the Orlando International Airport. At that moment I said, “I’m never going to fly Delta ever again!”
That’s the way some of you feel about relationships. Your relationship started out great. It was wonderful. It was the best thing that could have ever happened to you. But somewhere along the line something went wrong and you said, “I’ll never do this again!”
