HOW LOVING MONEY CAN DESTROY YOUR LIFE
TEXT- 1 TIMOTHY 6:9-10
INTRODUCTION
This morning I am going to continue with my series of messages from the book of First Timothy and also conclude my series of messages on the topic, “The Love of Money.”
In this series of four sermons we have looked at the relationship of money to our jobs, our religion, and our happiness.
This morning I would like us to consider the relationship of money to our desires.
Our text is found in 1 Timothy 6:9-10 and the title of my message is, “How the Love of Money Can Destroy Your Life.”
The owner of a very successful optical shop was instructing his son how to charge a customer. "Son," he said, "after you have fitted the glasses, and the customer asks what the charge will be, you say: 'The charge is $25.' then pause and wait to see if he flinches. "If the customer doesn't flinch, you then say, 'that is, $25 for the frames. The lenses will be another $25.' "Then you pause again, this time only slightly, and watch for the flinch. If the customer doesn't flinch this time, you say firmly, 'that is, $25 for each lens for a total of $75.'"
Before we look at what Paul says about how the love of money can destroy your life I would like to give you eight guidelines on how a Christian should view money.
Then we will see five reasons why we should never love money.
