HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED

TEXT- 1 TIMOTHY 6:13-16

INTRODUCTION

This morning I am going to continue with my series of messages from the book of 1 Timothy and my text is found in 1 Timothy 6:13-16. The title of my message is, “How To Stay Motivated”.

In chapter six Paul is describing for us the relationship between money and the church.

So far we have seen how money is one of the things that motivates people to get a job. We have also seen how money is one of the things that motivates people to enter the ministry.

But the main thing we have learned in this chapter is that the love of money is the wrong kind of motivation for anything.

Instead of money being our motivation, knowing who God is should motivate us. (Prayer)

What is it that motivates you the most in your life?

A man went to get a haircut. When told to sit in the chair he asked, "What happened to the other barber that used to be here?" "Well, it’s a sad story,” replied the new barber. “He’s now in prison. His business was slow and one day he asked a customer if he wanted a shampoo and the customer said, 'No.' I guess that must have been the last straw because he took a razor and slashed the customer's throat from ear to ear. By the way,” asked the new barber, “would you like a shampoo today?" "I’d love one," said the customer.”

The greatest motivating factor in our life should be knowing who God is and understanding his attributes.

Understanding who God is will have an enormous impact upon our behavior and the way we live. Put another way, how a person lives reflects what they really believe about God. Your beliefs affect your behavior.

In what has been described by many as the greatest doxology recorded in the Bible Paul describes for us five attributes of God that should motivate us to love and serve him alone.
