HOW TO BE SAVED
TEXT- 2 CORINTHIANS 3:12-18
INTRODUCTION
This morning we are going to continue our study from the book of Second Corinthians where our text is found in 2 Corinthians 3:12-18.
2 Corinthians 3:12-18 Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, 13 and are not as Moses, who used to put a veil over his face that the sons of Israel might not look intently at the end of what was fading away. 14 But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. 15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; 16 but whenever a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (NASB)
When we left off last Sunday with this study we were looking at the differences between the ministry of the law and the ministry of the spirit.
In verses 6-11 Paul gave us three differences between these two ministries.
- The first one was that the law brought about death, but the spirit life.
- Second, the law produced condemnation, but the spirit righteousness.
- Third, the law was temporary, but the spirit is permanent.
In our text today, Paul shows us that the main difference between the ministry of the law and the ministry of the spirit is that one can't save and the other can.
As we study our text I would like us to focus our attention on verse 16 which says, "But whenever a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away."
Here in this verse Paul gives us three truths regarding salvation.
