HOW TO HAVE AN EFFECTIVE TESTIMONY FOR GOD
TEXT- 2 CORINTHIANS 6:1-10
INTRODUCTION
This morning we are going to continue with our study from the book of Second Corinthians which was written by the Apostle Paul to encourage the church in Corinth.
Our text is found in 2 Corinthians 6:1-10 and the title of my message is, "How To Have An Effective Testimony For God."
As a minister for God, Paul had perhaps the most effective testimony of anyone in the Bible. But in a sense, all of us are ministers for God. I am not using the word "minister" in its strictest sense as referring to an ordained pastor but rather in a general way referring to anyone who is involved in the ministry of the Lord.
In order for us to be effective in the ministry of the Lord it is absolutely essential that we are blameless.
An insurance salesman was getting nowhere in his efforts to sell a policy to a farmer. "Look at it this way," he said finally. "How would your wife carry on if you should die?" "Well," answered the farmer reasonably. "I don't reckon that's any concern o' mine--so long as she behaves herself while I'm alive."
Nothing can hinder the Lord's ministry more than someone who is involved in the ministry but at the same time is being a bad example for those around them.
As we examine our text this morning I would like us to notice four characteristics of an effective testimony.
