HOW TO FACE LIFE’S PROBLEMS

Part 2 of 5

Jonah 1:10-17

Tonight we are going to continue with our study from the Book of Jonah on “Getting A Second Chance From God.”  Our text is found in chapter 1:10-17 and the title of my message is, “How To Face Life’s Problems.”

Last Wednesday we learned that God sent a storm upon the ship where Jonah was sleeping.  As a result it was about to break up and the sailors were afraid they were going to die.  That sounds like they were experiencing some pretty sever problems.  None of us are immune from the storms of life.

Just before a recruit made his first parachute jump, his sergeant reminded him, "Count to ten and pull the first rip cord.  If it snarls, pull the second rip cord for the auxiliary chute. After you land, our truck will pick you up to take you back to the base."

The paratrooper took a deep breath and jumped. He counted to ten, and pulled the first cord. Nothing happened.  He pulled the second cord. Again nothing happened.  As he careened rapidly earthward, he muttered to himself, "What do you bet that stupid truck won't be there to pick me up either!"

Here in our text there three principles that will help you face life’s problems.  It doesn’t matter what kind of problem it might be.  It could be a marriage problem, work problem, relationship problem, financial problem or spiritual problem.

If you will do these three things you will then experience peace in spite of your problems.
