LOOKING TO JESUS
Real Hope In Real Times Part 13
Text- 1 Peter 2:21-25
Introduction
This morning we are going to continue with our study from the book of First Peter.
If you will recall, the overall theme of this book deals with the topic of "hope". More than ever before, man is searching for and in need of hope.
Those to whom Peter wrote were experiencing sever problems in their lives. After being scattered because of persecution, Peter gave these Christians hope by reminding them of the salvation that they had received from Jesus Christ.
These Christians were also being persecuted by the Roman government as well as by their household masters.
Apparently, many of these Christians were also slaves and were being unjustly mistreated.
As a result of this, Peter taught them how to have the right kind of attitude toward those who were in authority over them.
Sandwiched right in the middle of this teaching, Peter paused to present an example of this through the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our greatest example for our life and shows us how to have the right kind of attitude. It is always easier to do something, when you know someone else has done it before you.
This morning our text is found in 1 Peter 2:21-25 and the title of my message is, "Looking To Jesus."
As we examine this passage I’d like us to learn three way we need to look to Jesus to help us through the difficulties we face in our lives today.
