HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR IMPACT
Real Hope In Real Times Part 20
TEXT- 1 Peter 5:1-7
INTRODUCTION
On November 25, 1984, I preached my first sermon as the pastor of Grace church.
My text then was 1 Peter 5:1-4 and I spoke on the topic of the "Pastor/Church relationship."
In that message I emphasized the need for the pastor and church to have a working relationship, a loving relationship and a respectful relationship.
This morning we are going to continue with our study from the book of First Peter. As we do, we come to the final chapter in this wonderfully practical book.
Our text is found in 1 Peter 5:1-7 and the title of my message is, "How To Improve Your Impact."
Those to whom Peter wrote in the first century, were suffering severely as Christians. Because of this, God's people needed spiritual leadership. When a church has good spiritual leadership, it can face any kind of problem with hope.
It is estimated that the average length of time that a pastor stays at a church within the United States is less than two years.
Often times, when problems arise in a church, the pastor will leave. When this happens a church sometimes becomes discouraged and despondent. When problems and troubles arise, Christians should be able to look to their leaders for encouragement.
Here in our text, Peter describes for us three ways we can improve our impact as leaders.
