HOW TO OVERCOME RESENTMENT

Part 5 of 5

Jonah 4:1-11

Tonight I am going to conclude my series of messages from the Book of Jonah on “Getting A Second Chance From God.”  In chapter 1 we looked at Jonah and the storm.  In chapter 2 we learned about Jonah and the fish.  In chapter 3 we studied about Jonah and the city of Nineveh.  Now in chapter 4 we are going to look at Jonah and the Lord.

Our text this evening is found in Jonah 4:1-11 and the title of my message is, “How To Overcome Resentment.”

The reason why Jonah ran away from God initially was because he knew that because of His great mercy, love and compassion He would forgive Nineveh for their sins.  He knew God and His character.  But Jonah’s reaction was just the opposite.  It would seem that the salt water had not fully washed away his pride And as a result had now become angry and resentful.  None of us are immune from the plague of resentment that ate at Jonah.

Tonight I would like us to look at 5 results and responses to resentment so you can know how to overcome it when it happens to you.
