PUT JESUS FIRST IN YOUR DECISIONS PART 10

Text- Hebrews 11:23-29

Introduction

During this year the theme of grace church is "Putting Jesus First in Our Life".

To reinforce this theme I have been preaching a chapter by chapter series of sermon from the book of Hebrews.

The reason why I chose this book is because its primary emphasize is the preeminence of Jesus.

It is a book that shows us how great Jesus is, why he should be first in our lives and also how to do that in various ways.

Our text this morning is found in Hebrews 11:23-29 and the title of my message is, "Put Jesus First in Your Decisions".

In order to put Jesus first in your decisions you have to first have faith.

An eighty year old grandfather took his first airplane ride to visit one of his daughters in Missouri. Afterwards he flew to Indiana to visit another daughter when he got back home he was eager to tell his son about his trip. He said, "Son, I didn't put my full weight down on the seat the whole trip."

That's not faith.

Faith is putting your full weight on God, trusting in him without holding anything back and without any reservations.

Here within our text we find the writer of Hebrews giving us a spiritual who's who list of men and women of faith.

    A.    Abel exhibited a worshiping faith in verse 4.
    B.    Enoch exhibited a witnessing faith in verse 5.
    C.    Noah exhibited a working faith in verse 7.
    D.    Abraham exhibited a living faith in verse 8.
    E.    Isaac, Jacob and Joseph all exhibited a dying faith in verses 20-22.

In our text we can see how Moses was also a man who lived by faith.

Probably out of all of these, Moses serves as the most practical example of the kind of faith we need to have today because he exhibited a faith that enabled him to make the right kind of decisions.

Within life there are many decisions that we all must make.

Some of these are simple while others can be very complex.

As children of God our Christian life also involves making decisions on a daily basis.

As we look at these verses this morning I'd like us to learn seven ways to make right decisions.
