Becoming A Giver
GIVING GOD’S WAY PART 3

Text- 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

Introduction

This morning I am going to conclude my series of messages that I began a few weeks ago called, “Giving God’s Way”.

As you have learned the various ways God wants us to give to Him, it is my prayer that you will begin to apply them to your life and if you haven't been giving the way the Bible says, you will begin to do so.

As children of God we have been entrusted with the stewardship of supporting the cause of Christ.  God doesn’t have a Plan B.  If we don’t give, no one else is going to. That’s one of the reasons why we as children of God need to be faithful stewards with our money.

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 People should think of us as Christ's servants, stewards entrusted with the mysteries of God.  2 In such a matter, what is expected of stewards is that each one should be found trustworthy. (NJB)

Too often though many of God's people are like the woman who took her children to the Saturday afternoon matinee, the tickets cost $12.00 each so the woman opened her purse and took out $36.00 and gave it to the man sitting in the booth, the next day she took her little girl to church. When the offering was taken he mother took a $1 out of her purse and put it in the offering plate as it passed by. The little girl saw her mother do this and looking up into her face she said in a voice which everyone around could hear, "Mom! Church sure is a lot cheaper than the movies, isn't it?"

A one-dollar bill met a 20 dollar bill and said, "Hey, where've you been? I haven't seen you around here much."

The twenty answered, "I've been hanging out at the casinos, went on a cruise and did the rounds of the ship, back to the United States for awhile, went to a couple of baseball games, to the mall, that kind of stuff. How about you?"

The one dollar bill said, "You know, same old stuff, church, church, church."

Supporting the cause of Christ is a stewardship that each one of us are to be faithful in fulfilling.  Let's look now at some ways God wants us to give so we can become the kind of giver He wants us to be.
