THE HOLY SPIRIT PART 1
Text- Joel 2:28-29
Introduction
This morning our text is found in Joel 2:28,29 and the subject of my message is on the Holy Spirit.
Joel 2:28-29 And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. (NIV)
Within the religious world there is much controversy concerning the Holy Spirit. Within our study about the cults we have seen how the Mormons believe that the Holy Spirit is some kind of fluid and refer to him as an it. We have seen how the Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Holy Spirit is an "impersonal force" and "not a person" and is compared to a radar beam. And we have seen how the World Wide Church of God founded by Herbert W. Armstrong, calls the Holy Spirit a "germ". Not only this but we have seen how many people even deny the very existence of the Holy Spirit.
Today, even among the most conservative Christian denomination there is much controversy concerning the Holy Spirit.
One reason for this is because many people do not understand that the Holy Spirit's work is different among those who are lost, those who are saved and those who are within one of the Lord's churches.
So, in this series we are going to look at five topics concerning the Holy Spirit:
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What is his work among the lost?
What is his work among the saved?
What is his work among the Lord's churches?
And lastly, we will look at the Holy Spirit In My Personal Life
These are just a few of the things I would like us to look at in this series of messages about the Holy Spirit. Let's look now at what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit.
