THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE LOST PART 3

Text- John 16:7-11

Introduction

This morning our text is found in John 16:7-11 and the title of my sermon is, "The Holy Spirit And The Lost".

John 16:7-11 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.  8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;  9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;  10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;  11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. (NASB)

Today within the religious world, not only is there much confusion concerning who the Holy Spirit is but there is also much confusion concerning what the Holy Spirit does, or what his work is.

Many people are so confused that at times they even try to do the Holy Spirit's work for him.

A husband reacted sharply when his wife came home from a church meeting and said, "I was saved this evening."  "Don't tell me that!" he retorted. "It's all right with me if you say you've been converted or you've accepted Christ or you went forward in a crusade, but don't ever talk about being saved. When you do, you infer that I'm lost!"

The Holy Spirit does his work very well and does not need any help from us as human beings.  Let's look now at what the work of the Holy Spirit is among the lost.
