Staying Spiritually Straight - Part 3 of 4

Tonight we’re going to continue with our study in the Book of Jude at how to recognize spiritual deceivers. Anyone here ever been deceived by someone? I’m sure we all have at some time or another. If you want to stay spiritually straight you have to know the difference between the truth and a lie. That takes discernment.

Today we cleaned some of the filters we have here at church. And boy, were they dirty. Your mind is like a filter that collects all the garbage and filth from the world. Paul said in Romans 12:1-2 that we need to have our minds renewed. If you don’t do that, your mind will become so packed with filth that it won’t be able to filter or distinguish between right and wrong, good and evil or truth and error. Does that make sense?

Jude was talking to people who were in danger of being deceived by some other people called Gnostics. Here in our text he describes how to recognize false teachers in our own day and time today. He lists for us 3 identification marks that will help us spot them.
